I am a 3rd generation stylist who grew up in salons and with 17 years of professional experience behind the chair, a decade of teaching nationally, and writing under my belt I’m confident in my ability to help other artists succeed and help my clients love their hair! I believe in sharing knowledge and resources generously, may that be beauty or business without any gatekeeping or competitiveness.
Thirteenth & Washington was my first baby and has grown to be a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels supported and encouraged, including myself! Building a successful independent business can be challenging. That's why I’m committed to providing our community with the resources they need to thrive. It’s truly an honor to work with so many talented individuals and to see them reach their goals, even when those goals are beyond our chairs. I am so grateful to have such an inspiring space to enjoy and care for my clients and colleagues!

Lived in Color is a method of creating dimension that grows out soft and natural looking. Simply put it can look beautiful for a few months thus making maintenance appointments as quick as 1-3 hrs in between your 2-4 times a year full Dimensional Color.
With a customized approach to a beaded row install, proper at home care, and maintenance appointments every 8-10 weeks, extensions can actually protect your natural hair and help it grow longer than it ever has! They actually make styling easier! Did we mention, no one will be able to tell it’s not your hair?
Yes, if you are looking for a Haircut only appointment or Blow Out Riley & Alyssa offer those options.
A Full Dimensional Color will allow us to create a highlight placement that mimics your natural grey in order to blend it in. Maintenance can be as little as 2-3 hours every 6-8 weeks.
We do not have a receptionist to handle walk-in clients, last minute openings will appear on our 24/7 online booking platform. Please do not walk-in.
You may bring in your own clip in extensions, there may be an additional fee to install them. If you are investing in a haircolor session or beaded row extensions we will only install hair and use color that has been purchased through our salon to ensure safety and quality.
Our passion is designing hues that occur naturally in hair. While we can do the occasional pinks, purples, etc, we usually suggest Homegrown Hair in the Grove. They’re awesome with all the fun colors!
No, we suggest V Vegas in the Delmar Loop for perms. They create gorgeous curls!
Unless you want an elevated Blowout in the salon, not at this time. We suggest MW Beauty STL & The Artist Edit for wedding hair & makeup.
Yes, Kristen is available at a ½ day or full day rate for on location photoshoots. Send an email to gffckristen@gmail.com with the date, timeframe, location, and attach your moodboard.
We are happy to cut your child’s hair for our standard Haircut rate. If you choose to go this route an adult must be present for the duration of the appointment. We ask that you only bring the child who has an appointment. We also recommend The Hairy Elephant for an experience most kids love.
Our service offerings are genderless. We do not have a licensed barber to perform hot shaves or clipper cuts. Riley is your girl if you love short scissor cuts! We recommend Classics and Union Barbershop for barbering services.

BALAYAGE
A french word which means, “to sweep” Balayage is a technique not a look. The hair is hand-painted in sweeping strokes to mimic the look of sunkissed hair. Depending on the goal, encapsulating the hand-painted hair in foils may be necessary.
BEADED ROW EXTENSIONS
Method in which a horseshoe-shaped section is created in the most suitable area for your needs. Small sections of hair within the horseshoe-shape are placed into beads. Wefts of hair are then installed above and below the beads and sewn together with thread. The beads are hidden, and the hair looks blended and natural.
BOND BUILDER TREATMENT
Works inside the hair to repair broken bonds during a chemical service. Creates strength not moisture.
Classic Color
A single solid color from roots to ends. This service is for clients wanting to touch up the grow out of a previous solid color or completely cover greys with one solid color. This is not a highlight service.
COLOR CORRECTION
Think of this as major surgery for your hair. If you’re going lighter from years of dark color, going darker from years of being light, or had a bad previous color experience a color correction will involve an unlimited amount of time, energy, and $$ to get to your desired result. Oftentimes the end goal is achieved after multiple appointments due to time, budget, or maintaining the integrity of the hair.
DIMENSIONAL COLOR
Highlights, Lowlights, both, Foils, Balayage, Hand Painted Hair, whatever it takes to give the hair the most natural sparkle and movement.
GLOSS
A non permanent low commitment color, that can refine brassy tones, enhance tones, refresh faded tone caused by environmental factors or hot tool use, add hydration, or just provide a clear coat that is super shiny aka toner or glaze. Our demi permanent formula is designed to gradually fade over 4-6 weeks, which makes it a great choice for color shy clients.
Hand Tied Hair
This is not the method, it is the actual hair that is hand-sewn strand by strand, into a weft attached to the beaded row created by your stylist.
HYBRID WEFT
These are our favorite! They are lightweight just like hand-tied hair, but can be reused for a longer amount of time with less shedding.
LIVED IN COLOR
aka Full Dimensional Color that requires more time in the chair initially but less maintenance over time.
METAL DETOX
Removes and neutralizes metals/ minerals that enter our hair from the water in our shower, swimming pools, or ocean water. This treatment allows for more even and predictable results when coloring the hair.
ROOT SHADOW
aka root smudge or root melt, this is a method in which we apply a color within 1-2 shades of your natural haircolor to give your fresh highlights a softer look at the root area. It creates a “shadowed” appearance.
Tailoring Treatment
A herbal conditioning treatment that targets two areas of your concern with up to 24 possible combinations depending on your scalp and hair’s needs.
